To make sure everyone in your workplace is healthy and happy, here are some of the simple things you can do as a local employer to help prevent the spread of bugs and diseases.
-
Good ventilation and air circulation can help remove stale air that contains virus particles and prevent the spread of respiratory infections such as flu. As the winter brings colder weather, you only need to open windows a small amount for this to be effective - particularly on windy days. Keeping doors open, for example to meetings rooms, will also help.
-
A simple and polite reminder to your employees on cleaning up after themselves and keeping their work stations and common areas clean and tidy will help prevent the spread of germs and bacteria.
-
Place hand sanitiser and tissues in easy to reach places and make sure the toilet and kitchen areas are stocked with hand wash. Make sure there are an adequate amount of bins with lids around to dispose of tissues.
-
Download our Toolkit and print off our posters to stick up in common areas reminding your employees and customers of these simple things.
-
While it may not be possible for everyone, allowing sick employees to work from home will help to prevent the spread of germs to other colleagues.
-
Employees should not be forced to do this, but you can support and encourage those who do wish to get the flu jab or COVID booster by allowing them time off to get it. Employers can also pay for their employees flu jabs.
If you’d like to find out more about this, visit a local pharmacy online or in person to speak to them about their voucher system.
